Threshold Advisory

Something needs to change. It's hard to know what. Maybe it's you, maybe it's your business, maybe it's the world.

It's a problem, but maybe it's also a possibility. It feels important. It feels… stuck.

The experts you trust reduce it to what they know. It gets boxed up too fast, labelled too early.

It feels too big. Too many dimensions. Too complex. Too new.

You've been here before. You know how it feels to move through this. When new things emerge properly, you can see the shape and you know what to do next.

But to find that coherence, first you have to see it.

This is the work.

I help you see the shape, both the problem and the possibility. Shape brings clarity. Clarity brings motion.

You shift into coherence.

This is a process that begins with a sense of something that's just out of reach, that you can't see, touch or name. Finding coherence lets you move the change across the threshold, so it becomes actual.

Then our work is done.

How this works

I work per engagement. There's no ongoing commitment.

We start with one conversation. If I can't help, I'll tell you. If I can, we plan out 2–5 sessions.

I charge by engagement, no retainer, no hourly bill. Typical range: $AU500–$AU3000, depending on the complexity.

What did you do? You plant models in my mind that somehow bring the universe to life.

Your models have a Mary Poppins carpet bag quality. You reach in and hand me what looks like a tidy framework, and then keep reaching in and pulling out more than you'd think would fit. Threads back through the relationship we've built, through the experiences we've held together, outwards into world at large, universe and spirit, sideways into pop culture, politics and philosophy. In a single hour we'll dance between all of those without it feeling forced.

Afterwards I feel ready to inspire. Not clearer necessarily about what to do; clearer about ideas that were separate, or unexamined, and suddenly have threads running through them. There's delight in that, and something mischievous, like taking an off-cut of wisdom from a neighbour's back hedge, then planting it so that you can grow your own. That wisdom doesn't belong to either of us. It arrives between us, and we both leave changed.

What brought me to Tim was a sense that I needed someone experienced in listening for transformational change. Not just someone who could offer advice, but someone who could help me hear what was really trying to shift.

What I have appreciated in working with Tim is his ability to quickly understand the real context without needing a long explanation. He listens deeply — not just to what I am saying, but to what is trying to emerge through the situation. In conversations where I have been trying to clarify what is next for me and my work, Tim has helped me name things I couldn't quite name for myself. He brings structure, language, and practical clarity to what can otherwise feel vague or stuck.

There is something quietly powerful in the way he works. He has a gift for putting his finger on the 'little big shifts' — the small but significant moves that open up a clearer pathway forward. I came away with a stronger sense of what mattered, what needed to change, and what practices or structures could help support that shift. For experienced professionals who are not looking for surface-level advice, but for meaningful movement, Tim offers a rare kind of presence, insight, and practical wisdom.

About me

I've always operated on the boundaries, in the liminal space. I know how to listen. I know about thresholds.

I've been running a software company for a decade, helping cultural organisations through digital transformation. I've been a priest and a bishop running the national body of a mystical church. I've been a futures and strategy consultant working for commercial and not-for-profit organisations. I've been a research scientist working on collaboration and software.

I've spent a life finding different ways to nudge barely sensed things across the threshold into existence.
